New public release for Transcribable now available – Android OS 1.11.02

Transcribable 1.11.02 has been moved from open testing and is now available to all. Enjoy!

This changelog is the same as open testing release; no additional changes.

Android OS app (339011102)

  • Added support for SPen on supported Samsung devices.
    • SPen Button can be used to trigger speech to text (STT) action.
  • Backup jobs can be manually triggered.
  • Backup jobs now trigger a notification on completion if app notification enabled.
  • Custom storage: when setting a custom storage location the internal files can be optionally copied to new location.
  • UI refresh and updated:
    • Editor area now has a subtle animation which can be toggle on or off under settings.
    • Slide-out navigation re-organised.
    • A simple usage guide is now available.
    • Wear OS, Changelog (new; links to Transcribable changelog on the Oddineers.co.uk website) and About moved to bottom navigation icons.
    • Editor area default state is now unlocked; for new installations the editor area no longer requires unlocking to edit (button in toolbar).
    • Samsung DeX layout adjustments.
  • Library and editor support opening and editing.md & .txt files.
    • Note that .md (Markdown files) are treated as plain text (Markdown rendering is planned…).
  • Removed prompt when opening Transcribable for battery optimisation exclusion (previously a one-time prompt); user can manually where required request this under > settings.

Additional changes included from the Android OS app (339011002)

  • Adds support to allow the user to customise the note storage location using the Storage Access Framework; supports any storage location supported by SAF.
  • Adds support for periodic backups to a separate backup location (SAF based).
  • Adds support to allow Transcribable to request an exception to battery optimisations.
  • Adds a menu entry for the Wear OS companion app which when triggered from the Android app prompts the users to install the companion app from the Play Store.
  • Provides 5 new user preferences under new preference group “Storage options”.
  • Several subtle UI tweaks and refinements.
